Mason Participates in Military Spouse Career Fair.

On Jan. 13, Mason participated in the Military Spouse Career Forum hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the D.C. Department of Employment Services and the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area.

About 2,000 job seekers attended the event held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

Mason’s participation in the Hiring Our Heroes initiative supports the university’s goal of helping veterans and transitioning military families find employment in the metro area.

The Hiring Our Heroes program was launched in March 2011 in partnership with the Department of Labor Veterans Employment and Training Service. It has hosted 83 hiring fairs and helped more than 6,000 veterans and military spouses and 60 wounded warriors find employment.

Mason has participated in several careers fairs in the Washington, D.C., area that cater to this initiative.

Mason departments that have questions about hiring veterans and military spouses may email jobs@gmu.edu for information.
